7 Best Handheld Shower Heads for Low Water Pressure

Having a handheld showerhead is a joy, given the freedom it offers as you shower. This, however, can be soiled by having too little pressure from your bathroom. You need the water to press against your body for most functions (such as water massage) to work.

Luckily, there are some great handheld shower heads for this particular issue. These showerheads have an inbuilt mechanism to increase the water pressure, making the shower experience great.

With a long list of such showerheads, I sought to review some of the most popular ones. My tests brought me 7 of the best handheld shower heads that are best suited for low water pressure conditions. I focused on various aspects, including the build quality and how much the shower head boosts the water pressure.

In detail, they’re as follows:

1. Delta Faucet 5-Spray H2Okinetic In2ition 2-in-1 Dual Hand Held Shower Head

7 Best Handheld Shower Heads for Low Water Pressure

At the top of our list is the impressive Delta Faucet with 5 spray options and one of the most unique designs I encountered. It employs the In2ition 2-in-on Dual shower head technology with a powerful magnet that docks the handheld showerhead precisely into the dock and serves as a showerhead. This way, you can either use the two showerheads separately or simultaneously.

This showerhead combo provides up to 3 times more coverage and larger droplets than a standard showerhead, making the shower experience great. You also get 5 spray options, namely the H2Okinetic PowerDrench spray, massaging spray, full body spray, full body spray with massage, and the pause option. These options can be accessed on either showerhead alone or on both showerheads.

It has a flow rate of 1.75 GPM @ 80 psi. This translates to about 6.6 liters per min at 552 kPa. This pressure can be increased further with the removal of the restrictor. These figures are enough to provide you with a powerful shower even when your supply has low water pressure.

Pros

  • 5 spray options to choose from.
  • Provides 3 times more coverage than comparable showerheads.
  • It has two showerheads with a unique docking system to use them either independently or together.
  • A flow rate of 1.75 GPM @ 80 psi.
  • Available in 6 colors (chrome, champagne bronze, matte black, polished nickel, Venetian bronze, and stainless).
  • Easy installation.
  • Limited lifetime warranty.

Cons

  • It has a removable flow restrictor built in. Remove it to allow maximum water pressure.

With a limited lifetime warranty and the ability to boost the water pressure, this showerhead is one of the best, if not the very best, I tried out.

2. AquaDance 7” Premium High Pressure 3-Way Rainfall Combo

7 Best Handheld Shower Heads for Low Water Pressure

Available in chrome, brushed nickel, and oil-rubbed bronze, the AquaDance rainfall combo has two showerheads at 4 and 7 inches wide. The handheld showerhead has a 5-foot stainless steel hose which is quite long and has a nice grip to it. Since I started testing it, I’ve never dropped it accidentally.

It boosts the water pressure to 2.5 gallons per minute for both showerheads making for a great shower experience. They both feature rub-clean nozzles and are angel-adjustable to provide the exact angle you need to get the water jets at the right angles.

Both showerheads feature 6 spray settings (pulsating massage, rain massage, power rain, power mist, rain mist, and water-saving pause mode) that can be used together or on one showerhead alone. You also get free plumber’s tape for easy installation.

Pros

  • Boosts water pressure to 2.5 GPM.
  • 2 showerheads: one fixed and the other handheld.
  • 6 spray settings for each showerhead.
  • Premium materials and finishes.
  • Easy installation with free plumber’s tape.

Cons

  • The water pressure may drop slightly when using both showerheads simultaneously.

For this combo, the shower experience is a great one given the many spray settings and boosted water pressure. Personally, I love the rain massage spray function given how full and nice it feels.

It’s also made of high-quality ABS materials and has a tool-free installation. You get a 5-foot flexible stainless steel hose attached to the showerhead. It can be used when held in the hand or when docked. The installation process is done straight away without the need for tools. I had mine up and running in about 10 minutes.

  • Made of high-quality ABS plastic with the hose made of stainless steel.

  • Anti-clog nozzles don’t get clogged and don’t need cleaning.
  • Available in 2 colors (oil-rubbed bronze and brushed nickel).

Cons

4. YOO-MEE High Pressure Shower Head

7 Best Handheld Shower Heads for Low Water Pressure

This one by HO2ME is one of the most reliable for providing consistently high water pressure. It has an internal mechanism to boost the water pressure to 2.5 GPM, which is the best for showering.

It comes with 3 spray functions, namely Powerful Shooting, Pulse Massage, and Mixed, which provides a mixture of the previous spray functions. It has a chrome finish and an impressively long flexible steel hose (79 inches long). As a tall person, I enjoy the length of this hose.

The YOO-MEE High Pressure Shower Head is made of high-quality ABS plastic and has soft rubber nozzles which won’t allow the buildup of minerals that could clog it. In general, I loved the quality of the materials and how powerful the water jets are.

Pros

  • Boosts water pressure to 2.5 GPM for a great shower experience.
  • Offers 3 spray options.
  • Made of high-quality ABS plastic and stainless steel.
  • The long hose measures 79 inches.
  • Anticlogging nozzles.
  • It can be used when docked and in hand.

Cons

  • Being made of plastic, the head needs to be properly taken care of.

This showerhead is worth every penny, from my experience. It’s not only great at boosting the water pressure; it also looks great in any bathroom.

5. WASSA High Pressure Handheld Shower Head

7 Best Handheld Shower Heads for Low Water Pressure

This WASSA handheld shower head boosts the water pressure to 2.5 GPM for an immersive shower experience even when your water pressure is low. It comes as a handheld showerhead that can be used either in hand or docked.

This showerhead has an impressive 9 spray settings: Soft Spray, Intense Spray, Misty + Intense Spray, Misty, Saturating + Misty, Saturating Spray, Saturating + Massage, Massage, and Pause. This is coupled with the easily-cleaned 41 silicone nozzles which only require a wipe with the hand to be clean again. I love the many choices I get when using it.

The flexible hose, made of steel, is 60 inches long. The showerhead itself is made of high-quality ABS plastic. Besides these items, you get free Teflon tape for an easy, watertight installation. It fits in with my other bathroom appliances making it easy to use.

Pros

  • Water pressure booted to 2.5 GPM.
  • 9 spray settings.
  • Quick installation with added items such as Teflon tape.
  • Easy-clean spray nozzles.
  • Quality materials to last long (ABS plastic and steel).

Cons

  • The hose isn’t the longest at 60 inches.

Unless you want to use the showerhead far from the dock, 60 inches is enough for most people (even the tall ones like myself). Overall, this is a great handheld showerhead.

6. Hydroluxe 1433 Handheld Showerhead & Rain Shower Combo

7 Best Handheld Shower Heads for Low Water Pressure

For this one, you get a handheld and fixed showerhead for one of the best shower experiences. Each of these showerheads has 5 spray settings (wide rain, power massage, stay-warm mist, eco rain, and pause), combining 24 functions.

Each shower head has a 4-inch face with a click lever for the functions and rub-clean jets for easy cleaning. You can lock each one in a certain position for the perfect shower experience. The handheld one comes with a 5-foot stainless steel hose. The whole unit is quite easy to install, especially with the included plumber’s tape and washers. It took about 15 minutes to install mine.

Both showerheads eject water at 2.5 GPM, forcing water through mineral balls and a purifying ionic filter. You also benefit from cleaner water that won’t harm your skin. This method is also cheaper than using electric power to increase the water pressure.

Pros

  • Increases water pressure to 2.5 GPM.
  • Easy installation.
  • 2 showerheads: one fixed and one handheld, but both can be used as fixed.
  • Free plumber’s tape and washers included.
  • 5 spray functions per showerhead for a combined 24 functions.
  • Cleans the water making it good for the skin and hair.
  • 10-year warranty.

Cons

  • The cleaning and pressure beads need replacement every few months.

Easily one of the best when it comes to having 2 showerheads and a clever way of increasing the water pressure. Plus, it looks great in my bathroom.

7. NOSAME Handheld High Pressure ShowerHead

7 Best Handheld Shower Heads for Low Water Pressure

Wrapping my list is the NOSAME handheld high-pressure showerhead. It comes in clear, clear-white, and blue colors, all featuring the same great qualities. It focuses on your health and features two chambers, one with infrared mineral balls and the other with negative ionic balls, which purify water, making it gentle on the skin and hair. These bioactive balls restore the pH of the water, soften it and make it generally healthy. I have noted a significant change in the feel of the water since I started testing it.

The presence of these balls is combined with the micro nozzle technology which makes the holes smaller, thus increasing the water pressure to 2.5 GPM without using more water. This pressure also makes its three modes of Jetting, Massage, and Rainfall possible for a relaxing shower session. It’s also a modular showerhead, which can be easily removed for cleaning.

Pros

  • Has bioactive balls for healthy skin and hair.
  • 3 spray settings.
  • 2.5 GPM water pressure.
  • Easy to install and clean.

Cons

  • The balls require replacement every few months.

With this showerhead, you get the extra features of increased pressure and water that’s gentle on your skin and hair. It also makes your bathroom appear beautiful and homely. This NOSAME shower head is quite similar to the PureAction Vitamin C Shower Head Filter in design and function.

Buyers’ Guide: What to Look for

If you experience low pressure or the showerhead you have can’t just give you the needed pressure, you should look at the following aspects when looking for a new one:

1. Water Pressure

The most important thing to consider is the water pressure from the showerhead. For this category of showerheads, the pressure should be boosted to at least 2 GPM for the best shower experience. As such, I didn’t include any showerheads with a GPM of less than 2.0. I also avoided showerheads that don’t boost the water pressure.

2. The Uses in Mind

It’ll be wrong to assume that the only thing you’ll do with your handheld showerhead is take a shower. If you also clean pets, children, and other items, you should consider the number of spray settings since they’ll suit different purposes. These uses also determine the type of hose you go for in terms of the length and if it is flexible and tangle-free.

3. The Appearance of the Showerhead

The look of your showerhead should complement your bathroom such that it gives you a great look. Chrome showerheads tend to match most bathroom designs, although you can choose other types and looks to pick from.

4. Number of Spray Settings

The number of spray settings determines how many ways you can enjoy your shower. Most of the showerheads I reviewed had at least 3 spray settings, with the highest having 9 settings. With this feature, the more the settings, the better the showerhead. However, having at least 3 settings is enough.

5. Anticlog and Easy-Clean Nozzles

One of the hindrances to high water pressure is the clogging of the showerhead nozzles. As such, you need to get a showerhead with nozzles that are easy to clean or don’t clog up easily. If it doesn’t have anticlog or easy-clean nozzles, it should at least be easy to take it apart and clean it.

6. Ease of Use

The ease of use comes from an ergonomically-designed showerhead handle, an easy-to-use dock, and a flexible hose. It should essentially be intuitive to use, so you don’t have to think too much about it. It should also be easy to clean the showerhead for appearance and longevity.

7. Quality of Materials

A showerhead isn’t something you’re likely to buy frequently. To get the most out of it, go for quality materials like stainless steel, ABS plastic, chrome, nickel, and others that will serve you long.

You should also go for sturdily-constructed materials which will outlast the poorly constructed ones.

8. Ease of Installation

Although you will only install it once, the easier the process, the better the showerhead. Your showerhead of choice should include as few steps as possible and fit directly into the existing wall shower stem. Besides that, knowing how to install a handheld showerhead goes a long way in reducing the time needed to install it.

9. Size of Showerhead

While the general assumption with showerheads is that the bigger it is, the better it would be, handheld showerheads pose a dilemma. If you get one that’s too big (more than 7 inches in diameter), it’ll be cumbersome to use.

On the other hand, if you get one that’s too small (less than 3.5 inches in diameter), it’ll take ages to shower. As such, find a showerhead with the right size, which is between 3.5 and 7 inches in diameter.

With these aspects in mind, you can decide on the type of showerhead you need for your bathroom. The most important aspect of all these is the pressure the showerhead can boost. If none of these showerheads meets your needs, you may need to fix low water pressure in the shower to enjoy better pressure.
